There is little information on this vineyard which has been subject to the growing urbanization of the city of Chambéry over the years, but the history of this village dates back to the 12th century and is linked to the history of the monks, the Augustes. Indeed, this village, historical passage between Savoy and Dauphiné, the Augustes settled there in 1112 where St-Georges became the patron saint of the parish.Gateway to the Savoyard vineyards, balcony on the south of the Chambéry cluse, St-Jeoire owes its name to the foundation act of 1120 which transformed the parish church, which already bore the name of St-Jeoire, into a priory church. Thus, the priory founded by St-Hughes de Chateauneuf, bishop of Grenoble, was entrusted to the regular canons of St-Augustin. The term Prieuré was added to St-Jeoire on the request of the municipality on December 16, 1901, to recall the former name of the church. Today, there is nothing left of the priory, the last remains were demolished in 1939.
Located southwest of Chambéry and at the foot of the Massif des Bauges, this vineyard is set on soils made of limestone marl. The slopes benefit from a continental-montane climate and a good sunshine.
